Werner Aisslinger

Werner Aisslinger runs Studio Aisslinger in Berlin and has a chair in product design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe. Professor Werner Aisslinger was born in 1964. After studying design at HdK, Berlin, he freelanced from 1989 to 1992 for Jasper Morrison and Ron Arad in London and Studio De Lucchi in Milan. In 1993, he founded Studio Aisslinger in Berlin, focusing on product development, conceptual design and brand architecture. His clients include interlübke, Cappellini, stilwerk, Porro, Magis, zanotta, DaimlerChrysler, Jaguar, Bertelsmann, and the German television corporation ZDF. Werner Aisslinger was a visiting lecturer at HdK, Berlin, and the Lahti Design Institute in Finland since 1994. In 1998, he was appointed professor of product design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe.

Werner Aisslinger has received numerous awards in international design competitions, including the Design Plus Award, Bundespreis Produktdesign, red dot design award, Compasso d'Oro Selection, and the Blueprint 100% Design Award. His works are on display in various prestigious museums and collections, such as the Vitra Design Museum, Weil am Rhein, the Neue Sammlung in Munich and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the permanent collections of the MoMA and Metropolitan Museum in New York. "In an economic phase in which, due to globalisation, more and more production and parts of civil engineering are sourced out into low-wage countries, design, as distillate of a cultural evolution stretching over centuries, is a key factor in worldwide competition over corporate identity and markets."
